Some of Scotland’s greatest property projects have been recognised by RICS Scotland in the 2010 awards.

Regeneration – Maxim Office Park, Eurocentral, Motherwell
Community Benefit – North Glasgow College, Glasgow
The competition recognises the achievements of land, property and construction professionals in four categories – Sustainability, Building Conservation, Regeneration and Community Benefit.
The winners and commendations of the four RICS Scotland Awards 2010 categories are:
SUSTAINABILITY

* Active Renewable Centre, Aberdeen (Commended)
BUILDING CONSERVATION
* The Old Schoolhouse, Logie (Winner)
* Tournament Bridge Restoration, Irvine (Highly Commended)
REGENERATION
* Maxim Office Park, Eurocentral, Motherwell (Winner)
* Union Square, Aberdeen (Highly commended)
* IFSD Glasgow (Highly commended)
* Ravenscraig Phase One, Ravenscraig (Commended)
COMMUNITY BENEFIT
* New Campus, North Glasgow College, Glasgow (Winner)
* Raploch Community Centre Campus, Stirling (Highly commended)
* Budongo Trail, Edinburgh Zoo (Highly commended)
* Alteration to St Paul’s & St George’s Church, Edinburgh (Highly commended)
* West Lothian Civic Centre, Livingston (Commended)
* Pollok Civic Realm, Glasgow (Commended)
The awards were judged by some of Scotland’s top chartered surveyors and property professionals. Winners of the RICS Scotland awards, which have been running for over 17 years, will be automatically entered into the RICS global award finals. Here, the Scottish winners will face tough competition in the shape of entries from countries from all over the world. There will also be an overall Project of the Year award winner for Scotland which will be announced on 5 May 2010.
RICS Scotland director, Graeme Hartley, said: “The standard of all of the entrants to this year’s RICS Scotland awards were exceptionally high and in particular the judges have seen some outstanding examples of building projects which represent fantastic value for money and are utilising the latest advancements in sustainable development.

Glasgow has three buildings and the Highlands two in the shortlist of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors’ Building of the Year Award 2003. They made it to the final 30 from 86 entries from all over the world…the chairman of the judging panel, said he was “impressed by the quality of the Scottish entries….Scotland has done well…there was only one entry we saw in London”.
