Benoy celebrates continued success with its second Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade

Business Success Award 2013

Benoy, the international firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is today celebrating being named as winners of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise – the UK’s highest accolade for business success. Having previously won in 2008, this is the company’s consecutive Award in the category of International Trade and so perhaps even more significant, acknowledging both commercial excellence and consistency.

The British firm began life designing local agricultural buildings, but today its work impacts some of the most significant cities across the globe. With offices in the UK, Middle East, India, China and Asia, the company is perfectly positioned to serve its discerning – and ever growing – global audience. Benoy’s global reach extends to over 50 countries.

Founded in Collingham, Nottinghamshire, Benoy is deeply proud of its roots and indeed its UK portfolio that includes landmark projects such as Bluewater in Kent, Bullring in Birmingham and Westfield London. The company now sees some 70 per cent of its business realised overseas with schemes such as the recently opened Centrum Černý Most, Czech Republic, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, UAE, Market City Chennai, India, ION Orchard, Singapore and Elements Mall, Hong Kong, defining the company’s truly global presence.

Whilst continuing to develop its excellent reputation in the Retail and Mixed-Use markets, the privately-owned practice is now achieving widespread recognition for its Urban Regeneration expertise and increased acknowledgement within the Residential, Transport and Workspace sectors. INDIGO, a mixed-use destination launched in late 2012, includes the already internationally acclaimed EAST Hotel, further strengthening Benoy’s place in the growing Hospitality and Leisure market.

Graham Cartledge CBE, Chairman of Benoy, says: “We are honoured and delighted to be presented with this most prestigious of British Business Awards and to win for a second time is an incredible achievement for the entire team.”

The Award is granted for a five year period and so reflects the judges’ confidence in the winning company.

“The world has changed dramatically in recent years and the economic landscape remains unpredictable but our resolve and determination have enabled us to succeed where others have not been so fortunate. We continue to enjoy great success in what some may describe as the more ‘Traditional’ markets, but also actively seek pockets of opportunity in areas that are new, at least to Benoy. Belarus, Burma, Mexico, Peru and Mongolia spring to mind. Our pioneering spirit has allowed us to establish new partnerships and forge new friendships in the global marketplace.”

“Our ability to marry imagination with realism, underpinned by a real respect for local culture, environment and history, continues to be a winning formula around the world.”

Mr Cartledge pays tribute to Benoy’s global client base and concludes by applauding his team.

“Whilst international trade is a vital component of our success, we remain very aware that our UK work has been an excellent springboard and so we acknowledge and sincerely thank our clients and colleagues at home and around the world. This Award celebrates the creativity and indeed faith of our clients as well as the exceptional talent of the Benoy Team, a team that is brimming with energy, inspiration and commitment.”
