Strikes 3 is a luxury, self-contained rural retreat, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Glenn Murcutt AO.

Embracing passive solar design, sustainability, and a seamless integration with nature, Strikes 3 is a homage to Murcutt’s work and legacy. This one-bedroom, luxury guesthouse is brimming with Murcutt’s signatures and modernist details, including the rustic material palette of steel and corrugated iron, the projecting windows that overhang the exteriors and the striking flat roofline.

Strikes 3’s fireplace and deck have also been carefully adapted from some of Murcutt’s famous buildings. The project incorporates generous rainwater harvesting, sustainable timbers and active solar shading to help reduce summer heating loads. Plywood surfaces and a stainless steel kitchen adorn the interior which flow seamlessly onto the external deck.

The site is a gently undulating rural site, located 10 minutes from the centre of Mudgee and a 3.5 hour drive from Sydney. The property is now available for bookings.

Strikes 3 was built by Mudgee based Builder Justin Penney who has been working closely with Glenn for a number of years. Justin is also the client for the project and is responsible for personally fabricating a number of the projects signature details. Strikes 3 is located on Strikes Lane just outside of Mudgee in Central West NSW.
