Make the Road Community Hub
Make the Road New York is a 23,000-member organization that seeks to empower underserved individuals by offering leadership in education, immigration, and health, environmental, and housing justice. To establish a hub for the members and let the city at large know that Make the Road is here to stay, the organization needed a permanent space that was visible, accessible and embodies the mission of this civic-minded community.

JOHN NEWCOMB NAMED AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
New York, NY January 24, 2008 – Due to the firm’s increased recognition and growth, TEN Arquitectos is pleased to announce that John Newcomb has joined the firm as Chief Executive Officer. John joins this architecture practice after 20 years as a partner at the Mexico City office of KMD Architects, where his leadership was responsible for growing that office to one of the most important architectural firms in Mexico and the Latin American region.
His particular knowledge and understanding of the field in the United States, Mexico and Latin America, in addition to his design and management skills, make John uniquely qualified to lead the international practice. Originally founded in Mexico City in 1986, the firm reached international stature in 2001 when it opened its New York City office. Since then, this architecture office has grown to over 80 members working on a diverse array of award-winning and acclaimed architectural projects.
Newcomb is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, serving as Chair of the Mexico District Council from 2005 to 2007, and is a frequent lecturer at universities and real estate development conferences in Mexico and Latin America, as well as serving as juror for important architectural competitions. John was born in Spokane, Washington and has a Masters Degree in Architecture from Tulane University in New Orleans. He resides in Mexico City with his wife, Gissele Preciado, an architect from Colombia, and their two young children. His daughter from a previous marriage lives in New York City.
