Bio

Platform 5 Architects is a London architecture practice founded in 2006 by Patrick Michell. We are Architects of the Possible, creating homes and developments by finding potential in places, briefs and constraints that is not always immediately obvious.

Our work ranges from the transformation of London homes and challenging urban sites to new houses in the countryside and by the water, alongside housing and mixed use developments.

We design around people and place, bringing together architecture, interiors and landscape to create buildings with a strong sense of character and connection to their surroundings. Our approach combines inventive design with a practical understanding of planning, materials, construction and environmental performance.

Platform 5’s work has been recognised by the RIBA Awards, NLA Don’t Move, Improve!, AJ Small Projects and Blueprint Awards, and has been widely featured in the UK and international architectural press.

‘Shoffice’ (shed + office) is a garden pavilion containing a small office alongside garden storage space located to the rear of a 1950’s terraced house in St John’s Wood. The brief required the shoffice to be conceived of as a sculptural object that flowed into the garden space.
