Star Metals Residences
Connecting the past with the present, the newly opened Star Metals Residences in Atlanta, Georgia applies award-winning firm Oppenheim Architecture’s signature “spirit of place” philosophy to the evolving urban environment. The Oppenheim team’s thoughtful approach to this development blends residences, community spaces, and retail to inject new energy into traditional multifamily living, with an additional office complex joining the development shortly.

Oppenheim Architecture + Design – Awards
Oppenheim Architecture + Design Win Three AIA Florida Awards
The Unbuilt Honor & Merit Award went to the Wadi Rum Resort and the Wharf Road projects respectively.
The mesmerizing Wadi Rum Resort in Jordan (above) is an unprecedented project setting forth a future primitive experience for the avid globetrotter, an hour and a half outside of Petra, the ancient city of the Nebataeans carved into the desert rock. Here, where desert sand meets desert stone, the boundaries between man-made and nature, interior and exterior are deliberately blurred establishing maximum effect with minimum affect. The lodges are nestled across the landscape – enhancing rather than distorting one’s awareness of the context.
Wharf Road, Surfers Paradise
render : Luxigon
The Wharf Road (above) development on Surfer’s Paradise Beach along Australia’s Gold Coast has an architecture that is earnest and timeless, simultaneously powerful, yet comfortable; straightforward, yet innovative; casual, yet elegant; fundamental, yet refined. The resulting experience is sensual and sensitive, intentionally reduced to what is essential – through bold, elemental forms, sincere materiality/detailing, and the integration of bountiful natural resources both physical and ethereal. Located between ocean and rain forest, the project establishes a new benchmark for ecological design within the natural environment.
Enea Headquarters

The AIA Florida Merit Award of Excellence for New Work was granted to the Enea Headquarters (above) project. This project was also awarded the American Architecture Award, Chicago Atheneum in 2009 before it finished construction. The project, located at the shores of the Obersee in Switzerland, houses the headquarters of the internationally recognized landscape architecture firm Enea Garden Design. This project emerges from the site as a wooden volume, discrete and elegant, and blends with the landscape as it responds to the natural environment, boundary lines and zoning conditions.
All three projects are the result of winning international design competitions.
