This is a building proposal for the Berlin Central Library. Strategically sited within the city adjacent to the new Tempelhoff Park. The new building should be viewed as a point of departure and is directly associated to the city’s commitment to future urban development within this area.

This proposal for the new Swiss embassy serves as a worthy representation of the Swiss Confederation in Seoul. Its design aims to respond to environmental factors, site context, and climate conditions. The subtly detailed architecture is secluded by a surrounding wall and vegetative screen.

Shared Dreams is a proposal for the new Helsinki Library, sited at a strategic point within the city, the cultural cluster in the Töölönlahti area, with the Helsinki Music Centre, the Aalto congress centre, and the Kiasma contemporary art museum. Office buildings and housing also contribute to urban life around the Makasiinipuisto Park. The new library is committed to strengthening this cluster.

This urban design competition was arranged by Klaksvík Town Municipality located in the northern part of the Faroe Islands. This brief was the basis of the urban design competition for the town center in Klaksvík and the competition outline was arranged by Klaksvík Municipality in cooperation with Selmar Nielsen Arkitektur and the competition conditions of Arkitektafelag Føroyar. The architecture competition was open to all.

This zone is home to a cultural complex department, museums, a maritime culture center, a cruise center, waterfront causeway, public parks, an opera, a theater and a business district.

BIO DIVERCITY – Sankt Kjelds Plads Master Planning
To clarify the two axes: The streets are actually crowded by parked cars. This needs to be removed to increase the attractiveness of the area for pedestrians and cyclists. Moreover, the space occupied by cars will be transformed into green areas and pedestrian paths. Space for cars will be limited to one lane, with a separate lane for cycles.

Swiss Architects

Kubota and Bachmann Architects GmbH is a modern and dynamic architecture firm based in Zurich, Switzerland. Although Kubota and Bachmann Architects GmbH was founded only in December 2010, the collaboration of Toshihiro Kubota and Yves Bachmann has a rich and varied history dating back to their first encounter in 2001 at Ateliers Jean Nouvel in Paris.

Born in Ibaraki (Japan), Toshihiro Kubota works since 2000 on a regular basis with Ateliers Jean Nouvel and was appointed partner in 2007. He played inter alia a key role actively in the Denmark Radio Concert Hall Copenhagen, the Paris Philharmonic and the Atlantis 3000 Casino Complex in Las Vegas.

The Swiss architect Yves Bachmann left Ateliers Jean Nouvel in 2003 to start working for Iria Degen Interiors. He was actively involved in the conception of luxury resorts, offices and homes as for instance the Lagoon Beach Hotel in Cape Town and the Restaurant Globus Löwenplatz in Zurich.

With awards received for an international master plan competition in Zurich and the Maritime Culture and Pop Music Center in Kaoshiung (Taiwan), the Kubota and Bachmann Architects GmbH demonstrates competencies in a wide range of disciplines. Its creative team covers all domains of architecture, interior design and urbanism. Last but not least a joint venture with landscape architects and environmentalists contribute to the success story of Kubota and Bachmann Architects GmbH.
