Eric Parry Architects – Introduction

Eric Parry Architects is an established and award-winning practice with a growing portfolio of notable work. The practice has gathered together talented individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and a wide range of experience – as a result EPA operates easily within any frame of reference, whether the Far East or continental Europe.

Eric Parry Architects (EPA) approaches all work with intellectual rigour, and also seeks to integrate the highest level of craftsmanship in all schemes it undertakes. Current projects at EPA include Aldermanbury Square, a new highrise office scheme in the City of London, a significant new wing for the Holburne Museum of Art in Bath, and the restoration and renewal project for the historic St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Trafalgar Square.

Previous work by EPA includes the home of the London Stock Exchange at 10 Paternoster Square in the City of London, Foundress Court residential complex at Pembroke College, Cambridge University and a new library and music school for Bedford School.

EPA undertakes an unusual range of work, varied in scope and scale. The practice has won numerous awards, including an RIBA Award and AIA Design Excellence Award in 2003 for the design of the office building at 30 Finsbury Square, London, which was also shortlisted for the prestigious Stirling Prize in the same year. The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park was awarded Best Leisure Design at the FX International Interior Design Awards in 2001 and Foundress Court at Pembroke College, Cambridge University, won an RIBA Award in 1998.

Eric Parry founded the practice in 1983. It is based in Finsbury, London, and employs 54 staff. The architecture practice also has an office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the practice has designed a number of residential schemes. Eric Parry maintains a key involvement in all projects, particularly in their design development stages. He is keenly interested in the bridges between theory, practice, space and society.

The practice has recently completed the exhibition design for the Royal Academy of Art’s Andrea Palladio exhibition, the much-acclaimed £36m restoration and renewal project for the historic St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Trafalgar Square, as well as the commercial office building at 5 Aldermanbury Square. EPA is responsible for several prestigious commercial projects in the City and West End.

60 Threadneedle Street and 23 Savile Row are now complete while 50 New Bond Street is currently on site. Eric Parry Architects is also working on a number of cultural projects including a new wing for the Holburne Museum of Art in Bath, and a new recital hall and associated teaching spaces for Wells Cathedral School.

EPA has won numerous awards, most recently from the British Council for Offices for 5 Aldermanbury Square, which won the Commercial Workplace category both Regional (London) and National 2008. In 2007 the practice won an RIBA Award for the Bedford Music School, and the restoration of the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields won an award in The Georgian Group Architectural Awards for restoration of a Georgian Church.
