London Architect Practice Information
The architecture office of Block Architecture was established in 2002.
This British architecture practice was established in 2002 after a four year partnership set up by architects Graeme Williamson and Zoe Smith. Their output includes award-winning work in the Arts, Residential, Commercial and Education sectors. According to the architects office the design-led partnership continues to “challenge normative practices in architecture and spatial design”.

The company’s experience in the Arts includes gallery commissions for organisations such as the V&A Museum (England), Magasin3 Gallery in Stockholm (Sweden) and Modern Art Oxford (England). Block’s residential output ranges from more experimental one-off projects for private clients to large scale mixed-use schemes for experienced developers. Commercially the firm has developed office, restaurant and retail spaces for pioneering individuals such as Hussein Chalayan and corporations such as Virgin Atlantic. More recent additions to the company’s experience are education projects with school proposals under development for Pupil Referral Units in London.
This London architecture practice has always aimed to maintain an open and responsive approach to each individual brief. This means that design solutions are by definition project-specific with more emphasis placed on the experience of the end user than the reinforcement of an architectural house style.
