Faust Residence, Lake Winnebago, Missouri, USA
The Faust Residence is a breathtaking lakeside retreat situated at Lake Winnebago, MO, embodying refinement and elegance in its design. Completed in 2024, this residential project features a total of three building levels, offering ample space for comfortable living.
Situated on the second tier of the lake community, the 3,600-square-foot modern masterpiece embodies Faust’s signature contemporary style while incorporating thoughtful elements designed to maximize views despite not being directly on the water.
The property boasts ample outdoor living spaces beyond the rooftop. A deck runs the full length of the house in the back, while another extends off the kitchen and living room area and features a grill for outdoor cooking. Faust notes that the architect designed the main deck to evoke a boardwalk leading to a dock, another nod to lakeside living. The kitchen-adjacent deck is positioned just above the lower garage, maximizing the use of vertical space.
For a lake-loving family, this modern lakeside masterpiece represents both their skilled craftsmanship and personal taste. This is a place where innovative construction techniques and carefully selected finishes come together to create not just a house, but a beautifully crafted home.

What inspired the architectural design of the Faust Residence, and how does it integrate with the natural surroundings of Lake Winnebago?
The Faust Residence is a thoughtful collaboration between architect and builder – who also happens to be the homeowner. Innovative, budget-conscious construction strategies are paired with intentional design to create a refined lakeside retreat, integrated with its natural surroundings.
How did the collaboration with KEM STUDIO influence the final design and functionality of the Faust Residence?
KEM STUDIO led the architecture, working closely with Faust Construction, Bootlace Design & Build, and the homeowner on interior finishes, custom casework, and detailing.
How did KEM STUDIO maximize lakeside living for the Faust Residence?
Though the home sits within a lake community, its second-tier lot offers views without direct water access. The design embraces this elevated setting, treating the house as a personal dock floating above the land. A boardwalk-like sequence – from the entry porch and front door to the back deck – emphasizes this concept. Massing and vertical stacking are strategically composed to maximize lake views, culminating in an upper-level deck perched above the landscape. Warm exterior lighting enhances curb appeal and offers a welcoming glow when viewed from the lake.
