Haus Blick in Hinterbrühl, Vienna, Austria
Haus Blick nestles along the sloping hillside above Hinterbrühl and at the same time opens up wide to the surrounding landscape. Upon entering, you can feel how light, space and nature merge with each other: the living areas open up to the garden and the landscape through generous windows, so that indoor and outdoor spaces flow into each other.
On the lowest level there is the entrance, two covered parking spaces, the garage, a guest room as well as the building services and utility room.
Above this are the bedrooms and private retreat areas, embedded in the slope and in the greatest possible privacy. The master bedroom has a spacious terrace with a breathtaking view of the forests of Hinterbrühl.
From the lowest to the top level, a single-flight staircase leads past the bedrooms and follows the slope along a glazed strip. Parallel to this runs the external staircase – separated only by the glazing – which nestles against the slope and allows the garden and interior to merge across all floors.
It provides access to all levels of the house directly from the main areas, where living, dining and cooking merge. An elevator shaft with all connections has already been prepared for barrier-free retrofitting and can be used as additional storage space on each floor until then.
The living level opens up to both the valley and the slope and has spacious terraces on both sides. The suspended, round open fireplace is an eye-catcher in the living area and forms the transition from the kitchen and dining area to the living area, which, in addition to the terrace glazing, also allows the view to immerse the view into the pine forest on the slope via the shed skylights.
Towards the slope, the sheltered terrace connects directly to the south-facing infinity pool, from which a magnificent view over the surrounding hills and the landscape opens up. The terraces extend the rooms into the open air and invite you to linger while the surroundings remain present at all times.
Materials such as exposed concrete, terrazzo, polished concrete and the aluminium façade in warm brown-beige give the house peace and clarity.
Almost every area of the building is closely connected to the landscape: light and views characterize the living, and the house looks like a natural part of the slope.
