Gleneagles Hotel Spa + Golf Resort

The Strathearn was the Gleneagles hotel’s original restaurant when it opened in 1924. Over the past century, little has changed – candlelight and live piano music still create the perfect ambiance for enjoying a menu of modern Scottish fine dining.
Dining at The Strathearn restaurant, Gleneagles Hotel
We had a truly memorable evening – and were lucky to be seated at the edge of the room thereby having full view of tables of fellow diners following their choices and enjoyment, the theatre of the domed trollies being wheeled out to display mouthwatering selections of beef or salmon. Served with all the trimmings one could wish for.

Later the trollies would be the vehicles for flambé pudding cooked at the table, cheeses or cocktails. The servers were fully trained and happy to passionately explain the history and production of the food and drink.
Scottish langoustine seaweed, spring carrot, consommé:

Adrian chose Scottish langoustine seaweed, spring carrot, consommé for starter, then Venison rhubarb, turnip, truffle for main, and for pudding he chose Chocolate 54% Gleneagles blend, cocoa juice, smoked almond.
Scallop Perthshire asparagus, garden peas, Alsace bacon:

Celebration of Scotch Beef with a Yorkshire Pudding on the plate:

I opted for Scallop Perthshire asparagus, garden peas, Alsace bacon for starter, and from the trolley a Celebration of Scotch Beef – described as a tribute to the finest herds and richest pastures, roasted to perfection and carved at our table. For pudding I was delighted to have chosen Soufflé – Lemon, raspberry and Highland crowdie.
Soufflé – Lemon, raspberry and Highland crowdie:

We were both more than satisfied with our choices.
It was an indulgent display of quality and luxury. As the hours of the evening wound to an end we comfortably enjoyed the content atmosphere in the beautiful dining room, daylight turned to dusk, the flickering candles on the tables were mirrored and seemed to go on forever in countless large windows windows facing the well-kept gounds beyond. At the end we came away feeling happy and well and truly spoiled.
Celebration of Scotch Beef in the trolley:

We warmly recommend The Strathearn restaurant at Gleneagles for anyone looking for Scottish dining at its best with excellent service in beautiful settings!
