Falkland Palace Fife
Set on the north side of this lovely, traditional Fife village, located in the middle of the county. A visit to this building can be combined with a trip to St Andrews.
A hunting lodge existed on the site in the 12th century. The structure was expanded in the 13th century.
Today this building is under the stewardship of the Marquess of Bute. He delegates most of his duties to The National Trust for Scotland.
If you are interested in 20th Century architecture, the Scottish New Town of Glenrothes is also worth a stop, especially the Modern church building by Gillespie Kidd & Coia Architects.
More information on this delightful historic Fife building is very welcome please.
