Casa Mirante in São Paulo
With 700 sqm, the residence designed by Gilda Meirelles Arquitetura adapts to a sloped site, prioritizing views, privacy and integration with the natural surroundings.
Implanted on a plot with a 12-meter level difference, Casa Mirante was conceived as a nature-surrounded retreat for a couple with children, located within a gated community that includes shared areas and a nearby lookout point. Designed by Gilda Meirelles Arquitetura, the project responds to the clients’ desire for privacy and tranquility, creating a residence where greenery and natural light play a central role.
To address the site’s steep slope, the house volumes are distributed across different levels, organically following the topography. Access is provided from street level, where the garage and entrance lead to a staircase framed by vegetation.
From there, a double-height space connects to the social core of the house — living and dining rooms, terrace, garden, pool, kitchen and gourmet area — as well as to a set of bedrooms arranged on a split level. On the upper floor, positioned toward the back of the plot and aligned with the site’s natural ground level, are the main bedrooms and a playroom.
This implantation strategy reduces the impact on the land, avoids extensive earthworks and ensures that all spaces benefit from good solar exposure, cross-ventilation and views of the surrounding greenery. Terraces and balconies extend over the garden, reinforcing a sense of immersion in the landscape.
The architecture prioritizes natural and durable materials — such as wood, stone and a metal structure — in dialogue with native vegetation. Internally, the house features a generous layout with five bedrooms (two of which are flexible, suitable for guests or home offices), as well as support spaces distributed over two levels, ensuring functionality and discretion for service areas.
One of the highlights of the project is the leisure area: a jacuzzi designed as a reflecting pool creates a transition between the terrace and the barbecue area, forming two environments that are visually connected yet capable of functioning independently — a specific request from the homeowners.
With a clear architectural concept and volumetric solutions that explore different heights and roof configurations, Casa Mirante reveals a contemporary language closely aligned with the site’s topography and landscape. Expansive views toward the lookout area — visible from both social and private spaces — are complemented by generous glazed surfaces that connect interiors to nature, creating an open, fluid and welcoming living experience.
In addition to the architectural design, the studio was also responsible for the interior design. The result is a house that reflects the essence of countryside living, without renouncing sophistication, comfort or a strong connection to its natural surroundings.
