CTBUH Best Tall Building Worldwide
This building design by French architect Jean Nouvel, was named Best Tall Building Worldwide by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. Doha Tower, which was first named the Best Tall Building in the Middle East and Africa, took the overall award out of the four regional winners. The building was honored for incorporating elements of traditional regional design with modern technologies to create an environmentally-sensitive icon for Qatar’s capital.

Aspire Tower Doha
The exterior lighting scheme for Aspire Tower in the Sports City was inaugurated at the opening of the Asian Games in Doha, in December 2006. The team of Kevan Shaw Lighting Design with Midmac & Sixco contractors have delivered a 300metre tower in 15 months from commencement of ground works to structural and cladding completion, incorporating the external lighting designed by KSLD and a world record 12m Olympic flame at the top of the tower.

The project has an outer ring of 6 office towers ascending in a clockwise direction from 20 to 35 storeys in height. The 4 inner ring of towers, comprising of 3 office towers and a hotel tower, ascends in a counter-clockwise direction from 31 to 50 storeys in height.

Qatar 2022 Showcase Stadium
Arup Associates’ design for 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar Showcase is a distinctive building that was a major driver in Qatar’s sustainability plan and FIFA World Cup bid. As part of the bid, Arup Associates designed a 500-seater “model stadium” that will be carbon zero and be a development platform to refine these technologies for application across Qatar and potentially across all arid regions.
