Unique innovation in Polish Architecture:

Bogusław Barnaś from BXB studio has developed Architectural Blocks to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the World’s Most Beautiful House.

The World’s Most Beautiful House turns 10 years and could be yours. To celebrate the anniversary, a well-known Polish Architect Launches Collectible Architectural Blocks Featuring a Model of the Small Eaves Cottage.

BXB Blocks consist of two series: Architectural Blocks and Folk Blocks – both representing a model of Small Eaves Cottage, the World’s Most Beautiful House, which marked the beginning of the Personalized Polish Houses collection.

The Small Eaves Cottage – different personalization options:

Ten years ago, BXB Studio created the first visualizations of The Lesser Polish Eaves Cottage – a house that, in 2021, was recognized as the World’s Most Beautiful House in the international Architecture & Design Awards competition and received more than 10 national and international awards (European Property Awards 2021–2022 / German Design Awards Special 2022 / RTF Global Architecture & Design Awards / World Design Awards 2021 / Małopolska Chamber of Architects Award – “Architects of Małopolska 2017” / Silver A’Design Award and Competition – 2022 / Architecture MasterPrize – Honorable Mention 2022 / ArchDaily – Building of the Year Nomination / MocNa Rzecz Nomination – MocArty RMF Classic 2022 / 10 Best Houses of 2019 according to Murator / 10 Most Beautiful Houses of the Decade according to Dobrze Mieszkaj / 10 Most Interesting Single-Family Houses Completed in 2021 according to Archinea).

Today, anyone can commission an Eaves Cottage designed by Bogusław Barnaś. Its new version, The Small Eaves Cottage, launched the Personalized Polish Houses series – houses based on the studio’s award-winning projects. BXB Studio is also celebrating the anniversary with the premiere of Architectural Blocks and Folk Blocks.

Personalized Polish Houses is an accessible collection of recognizable and award-winning houses, such as The Small Eaves Cottage. It is an innovative architectural service that allows anyone to become the owner not only of our blocks but also of iconic houses designed by BXB Studio.

Each house in the series is based on famous BXB Studio project, but is created – as the architects say – “especially for you, your family, and your own place on Earth.” The design is tailored to the residents’ needs, budget, and terrain conditions: both flat plots and steep hillsides.

Both Architectural Blocks and Folk Blocks transform ordinary play into a journey through the world of forms, traditions, and architecture.

Architectural Blocks are a miniature scale-model puzzle of a house, allowing users to explore its functional layout, structure, and spatial form in detail, while Folk Blocks create an abstract folk sculpture, an artistic interpretation of Polish cultural heritage, telling a story of architecture rooted in tradition.

A unique feature of the Architectural Blocks developed by Bogusław Barnaś is the way the elements connect without traditional connectors – their stability is ensured by gravity. Shapes inspired by traditional carpentry allow the parts to fit together intuitively and precisely, resembling the assembly of a three-dimensional puzzle. Individual elements remain in place solely due to their own weight, which is why they are also commonly referred to as Gravity Blocks.

The mechanics of the Folk Blocks are based on a simple solution – stacking colourful, differently shaped elements onto a vertical rod. In this way, layer by layer, a three-dimensional sculpture emerges, crowned by the silhouette of a building.

Each Architectural Blocks Set Includes:

A branded box featuring the logo.
One Architectural Blocks set – precisely shaped elements, including a terrain base, undulating ground-floor blocks, an intermediate floor slab, serrated attic elements, and a roof.
A booklet – an educational publication containing step-by-step instructions that guide you through the process of building the model, as well as the philosophy of the Small Eaves Cottage, its history, technical drawings, visualizations, and much more.
The Book of Your Imagination – an additional publication containing a sketchbook, notebook, architectural puzzles, crosswords, and other creative exercises that develop spatial imagination.

Currently, BXB Studio produces the blocks on a boutique scale. BXB Studio is seeking opportunities to collaborate with companies interested in producing the blocks on a larger scale.
