Les Invalides, formally the Hôtel national des Invalides (The National Residence of the Invalids), or also as Hôtel des Invalides, is a complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, France, containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building’s original purpose.
Place de la Sorbonne, 5th Arrondissement
The Sorbonne is a building in the Latin Quarter of Paris which from 1253 onwards housed the College of Sorbonne, part of one of the first universities in the world, later renamed University of Paris and commonly known as “the Sorbonne”.
Place de Fürstenberg, 6th Arrondissement
Labeled as being one of the most picturesque squares in Paris, Place de Furstenberg can be found in the heart of the affluent 6th arrondissement, tucked in among the web of streets found between Boulevard Saint-Germain and the left bank of the Seine.
Place du Palais-Bourbon, 7th Arrondissement
The Place du Palais-Bourbon is a historic square outside the Palais Bourbon in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, France. The land was acquired by Louis Joseph, Prince of Condé in 1769. The Prince de Condé hired architect Jean-François Leroy to design the square. Its construction began in 1788, and it was completed in 1804.
Place de la Concorde, 8th Arrondissement
The Place de la Concorde is one of the major public squares in Paris, France. Measuring 7.6 ha (19 acres) in area, it is the largest square in the French capital. It is located in the city’s eighth arrondissement, at the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées.
Place Édouard VII, 9th Arrondissement
This square, which dates from the early 1900’s, was named after the British King Edward VII.
Place du Tertre, 18th Arrondissement
The Place du Tertre is a square in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, France. Only a few streets away from Montmartre’s Basilica of the Sacré Cœur and the Lapin Agile, it is near the summit of the city’s elevated Montmartre quarter. Place du Tertre was the heart of the prestigious Benedictine Montmartre Abbey, established in 1133 by King Louis VI.

Abundant planting in the communal spaces continues into the private spaces, constituting another major undertaking of the project. Situated on a narrow plot surrounded by buildings, some imposing, the facades wre designed so that were both largely glazed but also largely planted, in order to create a kind of filter to mask direct views.
