The Eiffel Tower could get a makeover as Paris bids for the 2024 Olympics.

Eiffel Tower Makeover
Mayor Anne Hidalgo is proposing a 15-year, €300 million ($318 million) upgrade, to include better elevators, increased security, refurbished lights and an improved visitor entrance, reports CNN.
The Eiffel Tower welcomes about 6 million visitors a year and makes about €82 million ($87 million) in revenue. About €13.7 million ($14.5 million) is spent on upkeep. The renovation plan would raise that to €20 million ($21 million).
The mayor’s office said the refurbishment would strengthen the quality of the tourist offerings in the French capital, which may help Paris beat Budapest and Los Angeles for the 2024 Games. The International Olympic Committee votes in September.

Light Show to cleberate 120 years of the Eiffel Tower
The show was on every evening from 22 Oct to 31 Dec, 2009
at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm & 11pm

Using LED spotlights the Trocadero facade of the Tower will light up in color, movement and modulation offering a magical and awesome show. The Light show design is by Bernard Schmitt & Jacques Rouveyrollis, implemented by Citelum with Magnum
Citroën, a lighting partner of this Parisian tower structure in its earlier days (1925-34), has contributed to the Tower illuminations. For the occasion, Citroën will stream the light show of October 22 on www.citroen.com
Eiffel Tower – Description
The tower is 300m high; antenna up to 324m.
Tallest building globally until the Chrysler Building was completed in 1930.
This has to be the most famous structure in Paris, an early skyscraper that was not liked by many when built but now symbolises Paris, and France, to the world.
