Powerhouse Company marks start of construction for new BEC headquarters in Muscat, Oman

Powerhouse Company announces that construction has officially begun on the new headquarters for Bahwan Engineering Company (BEC). Emerging from an integrated client and design team effort, the project marks a defining milestone in BEC’s long-term vision. It provides a next-generation workplace designed to strengthen collaboration, support growth, and reflect the organization’s evolving role within Oman. The start of construction also marks Powerhouse Company’s first building in the Middle East, an important step in the firm’s international growth.

Sculpted Strength

Powerhouse Company has designed the building as a refined and contemporary interpretation of Muscat’s natural landscape. Located directly next to the Grand Mosque, one of the most iconic landmarks in Oman, the structure appears as a sculpted stone volume inspired by the surrounding mountains and materialized to blend with Omani colors and materials. A prominent north-facing atrium opens the building toward the street and forms an inviting entrance for staff and visitors. High-quality finishes reflect the texture and tones of Omani rock formations, while controlled façade openings balance daylight, privacy, and architectural rhythm.

Layered Approach

Inside, the headquarters is centered around a tall atrium that brings daylight deep into the building and creates a clear sense of orientation across the six office levels. The lower floors introduce warm social spaces that welcome staff and visitors, while the upper floors transition into focused work environments shaped for clarity and collaboration. At the top, the pavilion becomes a signature space for the executive floors, with sweeping sea and mountain views that give the building its most serene and distinguished moment.

Together, these layers form a workplace that successfully balances individual productivity with a collaborative work culture. With construction now underway and completion expected by the end of 2026, the headquarters reflects a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and architectural clarity. Upon completion, it will serve as a new landmark in Muscat and a strong representation of BEC’s role in the development of Oman.
