San Francisco artist Ken Fulk designs experiences. A member of the Architectural Digest 100, Fulk is internationally renowned for both interiors and over-the-top parties. His design concepts include top restaurants, clubs and wineries as well as celebrity homes, such as his overhaul of tech power couple Michael and Xochi Birch’s mansion.
He was the mastermind behind Napster co-founder Sean Parker’s massive medieval themed wedding in Big Sur, and Jean Paul Gartier’s bash featuring Dita Von Teese and a mechanical bull. His most recent project is a residential building in midtown Manhattan modeled after a boutique hotel, which allows residents access to Fulk’s extraordinary vision with its lobby restaurant, rooftop lounge, party planning services, weekly flower market and guest performances.
A one-of-a-kind SoHo residence designed by Ken Fulk is now on the market at $17.995 million. Located in a pre-war Beaux Arts building in Manhattan’s coveted SoHo neighborhood, the sprawling 6,000-square-foot duplex melds country manor with urban townhouse and historic with modern. As Fulk describes, “warm wood tones with accents of brass, glass and marble complement the industrial history of the neighborhood.” Fulk’s attention to detail shows in every room of the apartment, each space featuring unique colors and design choices.
Each of the residence’s two levels has its own entrance and service entrance. Downstairs, three bedrooms with bright, cherry tones and spacious en-suites, an eat-in kitchen, and a large informal living room provide plenty of space for lounging with family.
Upstairs, Art Deco accents, striking colors, and chevron floors decorate an entertainment space worthy of SoHo’s artistic reputation. An open floor plan connects the formal living and dining areas, which include a wet bar and a gorgeous built-in marble buffet. Barrel-vaulted ceilings with exposed brick enhance the chic, urban feel.
Beneath the elegant internal staircase, the master suite features a luxurious bathroom and enormous walk-in closet. Intricate chandeliers provide light to the master suite and throughout the residence. With five bedrooms and six baths, the home offers a rare opportunity to own a spacious apartment in a special New York location.
SoHo (meaning “South of Houston St.”) has a rich history, dating back to the 1600s, when the land was granted to freed slaves of the Dutch East Indies Company before New Amsterdam became New York. Famous for cobblestone streets and beautiful facades, SoHo boasts the world’s largest collection of cast iron architecture, with over 250 historic cast iron buildings preserved.
An artist’s haven in the 1970s, the region still features several notable art galleries. Modern SoHo is known for its high-end boutiques, world-class dining and some of the country’s most expensive real estate. An easy walk from Washington Square Park and New York University as well as numerous shops, restaurants, and nightlife venues.
