Arena Mundo E
Arena is a video-gaming center located inside Mundo E, a large scale mall in Tlalnepantla, Estado de México. The project seeks to offer both a comfortable and unique experience through its striking design and the use of cutting edge software technology.
Designing the gaming center involved big creative challenges: the biggest one of them was successfully translating the center’s graphic imagery into an architectural proposal. To achieve this, the project uses different shades of red, magenta and black, as well as triangular and bold angles to materialize the dynamic nature of the space. The end result is a highly technologic and dynamic environment taylor made for gamers that is both captivating and innovative.
The “arena”, a double-height space used for professional gaming tournaments, is the center of the project, leading the entire functionality and distribution of the architectural program. The ground floor contains the arena, three virtual reality rooms and twenty-two gaming and service stations. Going up to the first level you’ll find ten more gaming stations, two “retro” rooms and six platinum lounges.
All the furnishings found on the common areas and the gaming stations, except for the arena’s gaming chairs, were taylor made for the project; their geometry responds to the arena’s aesthetic and the surrounding architecture. This is an integral project that gathers the brand’s three spheres: graphic design, Architecture and industrial design.
The lighting design was made through straight geometric lines of RGB LED light strips that change color; the light was conceived as an architectural element and was an important asset in making the Arena’s meta atmosphere –which draws heavily from color psychology– come to life.
The project was developed with the use of digital modeling technology, in order to achieve a result that was both easy to replicate and to execute on site. Several methodological proportions were used in order to achieve a high standard of efficiency in both the use of materials and the exploitation of the existing space.
