Hobsons Bay Hotel has returned to its roots as a neighbourhood pub with a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces spread over three levels, including a new roof deck with spectacular city views.

The Hobsons Bay Hotel has stood on its corner in the Melbourne port of Williamstown for more than one hundred years. This project has returned it to its roots as a neighbourhood pub after its most recent incarnation as a Greek restaurant.
The ground level contains a casual public bar and a light-filled brasserie-style dining room. The first floor contains a cocktail bar, a private dining room, and a large verandah balcony overlooking a bustling street.
The roof deck is an open-air bar which can be fully enclosed during cooler weather with bifold doors and a retractable roof.
The material palette for the interior spaces includes dark bronze trims, panelling painted deep green, grey marble, dark stained timber, tan leather and soft lighting. These provide a setting that is welcoming, comfortable and warm. The floor is covered in tartan carpet custom-made in Glasgow which cushions noise levels.
The roof deck embraces the building’s coastal location and the neighbourhood’s maritime history. The expansive deck is built in ironbark timber. Shiplap wall cladding is painted in neutral grey to form a backdrop for the panoramic views of the city skyline and the port, and is a great spot to watch ships glide past.
Hobsons Bay Hotel revitalises a building with a long history and celebrates its maritime location and its role as a neighbourhood meeting place.
