Following a two stage design competition comprising competitive interviews and the presentation of a feasibility study, Tim Foster Architects have been appointed to redevelop this popular children’s theatre in Wimbledon.

Other contestants in the final stage were Ash Sakula Architects, Tim Ronalds Architects and Marcus Beale Architects. Tim Foster Architects’ proposals will open up and expand the existing front of house with foyers, a café and shop and create a new auditorium for 1 to 5 year olds in a domed structure at the rear of the site. The existing main auditorium will be remodelled and the building’s relationship to the street will be improved with a new entrance and enlarged window openings at the first floor onto a new education space. Internal and external foyer areas will be designed to be more interactive and playful for young audiences and access and circulation will be improved throughout.
