This 2,250sqft apartment designed for flexible use as a family residence, part office and gallery while maintaining vertical scale and visual interconnection. Split floor levels are carried by expressed trusses spanning the existing brick structure.

As with our design at Westbourne Grove, ‘furniture boxes’ house utilities and incorporate sliding and pivoting doors and walls that allow the sub-division of space and therefore the determination of use. The external envelope is a visually seamless curtain of woven mesh with opening panels onto the terrace and some windows.

The proposal seeks to replace two existing buildings with a new 3000m2 structure that will house a two level gallery, commercial offices and eight residential flats. The site is located within the South Shoreditch Conservation Area and will add an exciting new addition to Hoxton Square’s eclectic character.
