UK Landscape Awards – Gustafson Porter
Oct 2006 – Gustafson Porter has won Horticulture Week’s coveted Landscape Architect/Designer of the Year title at an awards ceremony in London last night. Fending off competition from Acres Wild, Gustafson Porter claimed the award for ‘excellence shown in design initiative and execution’.
The awards are the most prestigious annual event in the ornamental horticulture industry, recognising the work of the sector’s top achievers and innovators. Entrants are judged on the basis of a body of work completed over the qualifying period.
Neil Porter said, “we are thrilled to have won this prestigious award. It is always hugely encouraging to see our work so publicly endorsed in this way.”
Over the past year Gustafson Porter have seen to completion a number of high-profile projects including; The Westergasfabriek Culture Park in Amsterdam, which transformed a large part of the city’s former gasworks into an exciting cultural public space, and Swiss Cottage Park in London, a lush open space designed to accommodate the recreational needs of the diverse community which surrounds it.
Gustafson Porter have been acclaimed for their projects throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Recently they jointly won a competition to design one of three garden areas on the waterfront in Singapore and are currently working on a master plan for a linear park in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in addition to landscape schemes for a number of major cities including Beirut, Liverpool and London.
