Klaipeda Dolphinarium was built in the exclusive place of Lithuania- at the edge of Curonian spit, near historic fortress, where in 1973 sea museum was established.

Preparing dolphinarium reconstruction project one of the aims was to preserve and extend the the idea of stylized redoubt predetermined by architect Petras Lape (1924-2012).

The project developed with minimal change to the southern facade, which reflected to newly designed northern parts of the structure, creating plastic form of the building, which suits specific surrounding natural and urban environment, and organically extends into the open outdoor pool with amphitheater.

On the top of the building the roof cafe with a terrace was designed offering a view to the Curonian lagoon and the Baltic sea. Over the dolphin living space the sunroof was installed, dropping the maximum amount of light into the pool area.

Lights of visitors foyer are dimmed focusing the view on the acrylic windows of the pool, an underwater theme dominates in the whole space.

Performance Hall, and outdoor swimming pool equipped with transparent acrylic walls allows an overview of the image under the water. Modest interior in the performances hall- dark brown laminated wood beams, white ceiling, walls and chairs- focuses the viewer’s attention to crystal clear blue water
