Ascension Paysagère, Rennes
MVRDV, along with co-architects ALL for real estate developer Groupe Giboire, completes Ascension Paysagère, a residential complex at the confluence of two rivers in the west of Rennes, north west France. Occupying a crucial transitional space between the Rennes’ centre and its outer reaches, the 12-storey, 10,550-square-metre complex brings much-needed density in the context of the city’s outward growth, providing 138 homes including 37 units of social housing, as well as commercial spaces.

Project Berkeley-Oxford, Cesson Sévigné
Located in the ZAC VIA SILVA of Cesson-Sévigné in the immediate vicinity of the new metro line from Rennes Metropole, the new project consists of four office buildings situated along the new road which restructures the circulation of the area. The project is divided into four distinct buildings whose choice of location was made with a view to maximising privacy.

The Féval Tower development is located next to and comprises of the new station inaugurated in July 2019. The city’s new express train connections have cut travel times to its neighbours and the capital by nearly half, enthusing many to develop business with or relocate to Brittany’s epicentre.

The “Les Hauts de Sévigné” development project, led by the Launay Group, is located between the Rennes-Paris railroad line, the Route de Paris and the Rigourdière business park. This sector at the entrance to the city is today mainly composed of activities. Eventually, it will be home to approximately 650 housing units and 12,000m² of business floor space.

This project in Brittany was contracted to the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. His use of light and white concrete provide a unique ceremonial space that gently folds into the neighbourhood south of Rennes, a residential area with five-story housing blocks.
