IsArch Awards 2016 for Architecture Students

The 7th edition IsArch (awards for architecture students) competition.

The aim is to promote the debate with new ways of architecture.

They are a platform managed for students and young architects.

The organisers are managing several agreements for doing professional practices at architecture studios.

As part of its interest in promoting the winning projects, IS ARCH is in contact with various specialist journals and websites in order to secure their publication. All selected works will be published on ISARCH’s various platforms.

IsArch Awards for Architecture Students

Guggenheim New Curator for Architecture and Digital Initiatives _ IsArch jury member 7th edition.

Special registration period IS OPEN

Troy Conrad Therrien is Curator, Architecture and Digital Initiatives at the Guggenheim. He was previously an adjunct professor of architecture at Columbia University where he co-founded the Architecture Online Lab, and co-founder of Therrien–Barley, a design and innovation consultancy. Initially trained as a computer engineer, and later in architecture design, history and theory, his current work focuses on the relationship between architecture, communication technology and political economy through a curatorial practice blends traditional exhibitions with other experimental forms of programming.

He received an MA in Architecture History and Theory from the Architectural Association in London, and an MArch from Columbia University, where he received the American Institute of Architects Medal, and a BASc in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

IS ARCH Awards 2013 3rd Edition

The 3rd Edition of the IS ARCH Awards

Last 29th of April the 3rd Edition of the awards started and the next 15th of July the 1st inscription period for registering university projects is going to be closed.
In this first year (2 editions) we got around 400 architecture students who submitted their projects, we gave 12,000 € in cash between the winners (for this 3rd Edition we have increased the amount to 7,000€), we agreed professional practices with several studios (EMBT, Herzog & De Meuron…), also we gave 2 printers HP to the winners and digital subscriptions to magazines like 2G Digital, On Diseño…
Taba Rasti (partner in FOSTER + PARTNERS), Sou Fujimoto, Benedetta Tagliabue (EMBT), Rik Nys (senior director in David Chipperfield Architects), Tomislav Dushanov (Associate in Herzog & de Meuron Studio) and Carlos Ferrater have been the architects who took part on the panel of judges in the 2nd edition.

The 2nd Edition of the International IS ARCH Awards for Architecture students, with the amount of € 6,000 for the winners.

The 1st inscription period was opened until the 7th of January, the 2nd inscription period is currently open from the 8th of January until the 24th of March, and finally the 3rd inscription period is going to be opened from the 26th of March to the 22nd of April.

The aim of the International IS ARCH Awards for Architecture students is to provide a platform for recognition and debate surrounding the architecture solutions students contribute within the framework of their university studies around the world.

On the first edition, prestigious architects on the panel of judges were involved like: Tomislav Dushanov (Herzog & De Meuron Associate), Ivan Harbour (Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners), Benedetta Tagliabue, Koji Tsutsui and Fernando Marquez Cecilia, and on the second edition we have already agreed the collaboration with Rik Nys (senior director in David Chipperfield Architects), Carles Ferrater, Taba Rasti (Partner Foster + Partners), Sou Fujimoto, and Benedetta Tagliabue and Tomislav Dushanov (Herzog & De Meuron Associate) who repeat a second time.

More than 200 proposals submitted and the evaluation system which was divided between jury technical evaluation (60%) and general public (40%), awarded on the 1st Edition to Almudena Cano Piñeiro.

In this 1st Edition of the IS ARCH Awards for Architecture students, the IS ARCH organization team and the technical jury members composed by IVAN HARBOUR (Rogers, Stirk Harbour + Partners), Benedetta Tagliabue, TOMISLAV DUSHANOV (Associate HERZOG & DE MEURON), Koji Tsutsui and Fernando Marquez Cecilia, agreed that the selection has been really difficult for the huge quality of the projects submitted (200 projects from more than 50 countries).

We greatly appreciate the support given by partners such as HP for Designers and On Diseño who contributed directly to define the prizes. In the same way, we also especially thank the support given by ETSAB, Escofet, Arquitectura Beta, Revista 1:100, Yatzer, OCOACV, COAC, El Croquis, e-architect, Diario Design, AAIMM, Metalocus, www.world-architects.com, worldarchitecture.org and Europaconcorsi.

We are pleased to announce that the 2nd Edition for the IS ARCH Awards for Architecture students is opened from the last 22nd of October. The period for sending entries is going to remain opened until 22nd of April and finally, the winners are going to be published on 20th of May.
