VISUAL Carlow – VISUAL & the George Bernard Shaw Theatre
VISUAL & the George Bernard Shaw Theatre designed by Terry Pawson Architects provides Ireland with a significant new arts space to showcase contemporary visual arts and theatre of national and international importance.
TPA won an open Royal Institute of Architects Ireland (RIAI) architectural competition for the contemporarry arts centre in 2004.

Kingston upon Thames houses
The new development is sited on the plot of an existing private house dating from the 1950s. Two new interlocking houses, each with its own central courtyard, have been sited around a number of mature trees already on the site, creating a carefully designed composition within the verdant character of the area.

TPA was founded in 2001, subsequent to the success of Pawson Williams and has since established a reputation for beautifully crafted highly sculptural orderly modernist architecture which harmonises with its setting through the scale and modesty of its materials.
Completed projects by TPA include RIBA London Award 2007 and Chicago Athenaeum Award 2007 winner Vernon Street, Civic Trust Award 2003 and RIBA Award 2005 winner St Mary’s Garden Hall and RIBA Award 2002 winner The Tall House.
In the arts, the scheme by TPA for a new arts centre in Carlow, Ireland – VISUAL and the George Bernard Shaw Theatre – is now complete. Linz Musik Theatre in the Park, a competition-winning scheme by Terry Pawson for a new 38,000 sqm music complex, is to provide a home to the work renowned Brückner Orchestra.
