Northwest Park Copenhagen
‘The Northwest quarter of Copenhagen could do with a little more adventure’. Such was the idea behind The Northwest Park, designed by SLA.
Northwest is the most culturally diverse quarter in Copenhagen with almost twice the amount of non-western immigrants as in the rest of the city. As a result, the quarter has had its share of social and economic troubles: The inhabitants of Northwest are poorer, more often unemployed, and live in smaller public-housing apartments than their fellow Copenhageners. Northwest itself is a grey area with little public life and is known for its high rates of crime and pollution. It is not a coincidence that Northwest is popularly known to the rest of Copenhagen as ‘North Worst’.

The City Dune
The harbor front of Copenhagen has through the years been widely criticized for being the home of low quality office buildings, introvert shopping malls, bad infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians, and few, if any, public spaces worth using. Here, above an underground car park on the corner of Bernstorffsgade and Kalvebod Brygge, the Swedish SEB Bank chose to erect its Scandinavian headquarters.
