Luciano Pia is a contemporary Italian architect and founder of the Turin‑based practice Luciano Pia Architetto. He is known for work that combines contextual sensitivity, sustainable design, and expressive architectural form, drawing on both built heritage and innovative environmental strategies.

Background:

Born in 1960 in San Giusto Canavese, Italy, Pia graduated from the Politecnico di Torino in 1984. Early in his career he collaborated for over fifteen years with architect Andrea Bruno, developing projects in Italy and abroad, particularly in historic building restoration.

In the 1990s he worked in Paris, where he engaged in competitions and projects including museum and university buildings. After returning to Italy in 2000 he established his own studio in Turin.

Design Philosophy:

Pia’s work integrates context, sustainability, and contemporary expression. His architecture often explores the relationship between interior and exterior, the reuse and transformation of historic buildings, and low‑energy design principles. He has also been active in research and teaching on architectural methodology, environmental impact, and energy efficiency.
