Chemetov was born in Paris, France, in 1928.
Borja Huidobro was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1936.
A major architectural award for Paul Chemetov: Grand prix national de l’architecture (1980).
Chemetov was born in Paris in 1928. As a student, he belonged to the Union of Communist Students. He graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in 1959.
He taught at the École des Ponts ParisTech until 1989, at which time he switched to the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. In 1961, he joined the AAU. He has designed several buildings with Borja Huidobro (b. 1936, Santiago, Chile) since 1983.
He has received several awards and honors including the Grand prix national de l’architecture (1980), Officer of the Legion of Honour, Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and Officer of the Ordre national du Mérite. He is the father of landscape architect Alexandre Chemetoff, who won the Grand Prix de l’urbanisme in 2000. He also has two daughters Marianne – who married to famous cinematographer Darius Khondji and Agnès Chemetoff.
