Wan Chai Community Green Station
Now Open For Private Guided Tours
The Hong Kong Environment Protection Department (EPD)’s Recycling Station in Wan Chai has now opened and BREADstudio is conducting private guided tours at the venue. Recently, the Wan Chai Community Green Station also won the 2021 Good Design Award and the ArchSD Annual Award – Merit Award.

Hong Kong School of Creativity
Opening Soon
For the Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity, BREADstudio has engaged in the consultancy and design work for the Hong Kong School of Creativity. The project includes A&A of the renovation of classrooms and function rooms to create an open plan space to inspire secondary students to innovate new ideas and concepts in an experimental laboratory.

Charles’ Residence
Under Construction
BREADstudio has been commissioned for the architecture, interior design, and overall project management of two independent private residences in Tai Wai. The 6300 sq ft luxury villa, ‘Charles’ Residence’ has been adapted to the strict constraints of a typical Hong Kong village house with a bespoke design concept. The residence is now under construction, to be completed soon. Bespoke to each house’s unique requirements, highlight features include double height ceilings, skylights and creative play areas for children.
Kwai Chung Crematorium
Design Development; Under Construction
BREADstudio has been working as lead consultant and design and project architect to revamp the existing Kwai Chung Crematorium. Focusing on the idea of the journey of life, the redesigned Crematorium creates a warmer and softer environment with large windows, a garden and pond to embrace nature and create a calm and reflective atmosphere for visitors.

Shek Mun Community Centre
Under Construction
BREADstudio has been working on a project which includes three blocks of office, event spaces, consultation rooms and outdoor play space within the Railway Protection Area. The Shek Mun Community Centre, owned by the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church Union Hong Kong Limited (CMACU), has provided community services in the Sha Tin district since the 1990s, from family support, family and marriage counselling, mediation to outreach social services.

BREADstudio architecture projects
Over the past year, BREADstudio been working on a number of exciting projects from public civic spaces to bespoke private homes. As co-curators of the Hong Kong Collateral Event at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, the studio will also be presenting a Hong Kong Response Exhibition at City Gallery to the local public, where participants explore critical issues and propose innovative solutions for a more sustainable urban environment.

Wanchai Community Green Station
Opening Soon
The Hong Kong Environment Protection Department (EPD) has constructed nine Recycling Stations under the GREEN@COMMUNITY mission to rebrand the city’s community recycling network. BREADstudio is commissioned to work on the team to design and construct the tenth station in Wan Chai, which is on track to open in Q4 of 2021.
The structure is made of steel, while the trellis is supported by a GRP double curved secondary beam. The station will be open to the public year-round and serve as a shaded garden refuge for the community along the harbourfront.

Venice Architecture Biennale Hong Kong Response Exhibition at City Gallery

BREADstudio’s Benny Lee and Paul Mui were appointed as part of the Curatorial Team of the Hong Kong Collateral Event at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale. Opening 20 October, the Hong Kong Response Exhibition will be displayed at City Gallery, Central.
The exhibition theme, ‘Redistribution: Land, People & Environment,’ will showcase innovative ideas centred on the redistribution of these three critical resources to enhance Hong Kong’s overall liveability. Exploring both the challenges and opportunities available in our city, the project encourages exhibitors to collaborate on proposing creative solutions to how we can harmoniously live together by designing compassionate architecture, constructing people-centric urbanism, and respecting the environment, both built and natural.
The exhibition will conclude with an international symposium on 10 December. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The exhibition is co-organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects Biennale Foundation and Hong Kong Arts Development Council, partnered with The Hong Kong Institute of Architects and CreateHK as lead sponsor.

Nina Plaza, Tsuen Wan
Under Construction
Commissioned by Chinachem Group, BREADstudio has been appointed the designer, project architect and artist to revamp Nina Plaza, an outdoor square in front of Nina Mall in Tsuen Wan. The project design draws from classic amphitheaters, providing seating in front of a large video screen, with surrounding greenery, a fountain, and a solar panel sculpture that automatically fans-out when its panels detect sunlight. Once completed, the Plaza will offer a comfortable communal space for shoppers to rest while also having the ability to adapt flexibly for public celebrations during the festive season.

New Praya Kennedy Town
Design Concept Stage Completed, Pending Construction
BREADstudio has competed in open, anonymous, and international competitions since 2008. BREAD presents an innovative concept design as design architect for the Home Affairs Department’s New Praya project at Kennedy Town. Located along the waterfront, the boardwalk design mirrors the nearby waves with ramps undulating to create small and large spaces for diverse functions, from skateparks to concert halls. Steps continue down to the water’s edge, allowing for unobstructed views at varying heights of the city skyline.

Under Construction; Completion Date Q4 2021 And Q1 2022
BREADstudio has been commissioned for the architecture, interior design, and overall project management of two independent private residences in Tai Wai. Each of the 6300 sq ft luxury villas have been adapted to the strict constraints of a typical Hong Kong village house with a bespoke design concept made to suit the requirements of each owner.
One residence is designed for a young family featuring spacious common areas and playful touches for the children, while the bachelor home has a distinctly contemporary feel with expansive skylights.
