d6 Building
d6 is part of a masterplan for a cluster of office spaces in an environment that differentiates itself in offering tenants a refreshing alternative design office spaces. The design features internal corridors which are naturally lit through skylights.
The top level corridor is perforated to allow daylight to filter through to the corridors below. The cuts in the floor “un-encloses” the double-loaded corridor, especially when natural daylight washes over the wall surface, and filters softly to the floor below.
The facade is layered and articulated in steel mesh with patterned cuts over the spaces or inner layer of walls. The material and patterns display different character for the building by its texture and translucency at different times of the day. The animated facade establishes an interesting dialogue with its sister development similarly patterned but in an opaque skin.
The project shows the designer’s ingenious use of simple design tools and inexpensive materials to create afresh the image the office building.
