New Health and Care Centre in East Pollokshields opens its doors
A new £2.7 million Health and Care Centre has welcomed the first patients through the doors in East Pollokshields.
The new Shields Centre brings together a range of community services within one building, including two GP Practices, social work services, district nursing and health improvement teams.
hub West Scotland, worked in partnership with the NHS, our contractor CBC and architect Anderson Bell Christie to deliver this state-of-the-art facility.
The building will form part of a new overall community provision, along with the community centre and the new Gaelic school.
The unified service delivery approach will make life easier for the local community improving access to better services in the one building.
It has filled an under used gap site and the exceptional design had added to the fabric of the surrounding area.
The innovative new centre offers local people the ability to see a wide range of health and social care services all under the one roof – and also includes a self-sustaining community garden which will be managed by a third sector organisation.
