Architect Carlos Ott Reveals Glass Sail Tower

Known for his designs of The Bastille Opera House in Paris and the National Grand Theater of Beijing, Carlos Ott is the visionary Project Designer of Fortune International’s newest South Florida tower, Jade Ocean.

Conceived as a sculptural sail with full glass skin, Carlos Ott imbues an aerodynamic and defiant touch to this residential tower, avoiding the traditional dichotomy between shapes and sizes, walls and roofs, entry and exit.

At 50 stories, Jade Ocean is more like a boat trip across the Atlantic than a condo tower, with designs fashioned after ocean travels and dramatic shifts between east and west exposures. A cascading fan of sails and six-story waterfall rests at its base, pointing up toward the arrival deck. Here, at the rear of the tower amid sea and sky, is the valet and lobby entry, prime real estate typically reserved for amenities.

A tour through Jade Ocean often pauses on floors 6 and 7, where Ott assembled gathering rooms, a full-service spa, restaurant space, and sunrise/sunset pools virtually touching underneath glass panels, directing the eye to the “stern” of the tower.

Ott has completed projects in the United Arab Emirates including the the Sheikh Zayed Road Development Project (Abu Dhabi), the National Bank of Abu Dhabi Headquarters (Abu Dhabi).
