TECTONIQUES / ARCHITECTURES /

Aalto University, Helsinki : 11 – 28 September 2012

As part of World Design Capital Helsinki 2012, the Finnish branch of the Institut Français has invited Tectoniques to present the exhibition Tectoniques / Architectures at Aalto University from 11 to 28 September 2012.

Helsinki was chosen as the World Design Capital for 2012 by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID). A different city takes on this role every 2 years. Helsinki is hosting numerous events that look at design from every angle, notably with regard to the quality of urban life and sustainable development. The French ambassador to Finland, the Institut Français and Ubifrance Finlande are actively backing this year-long operation. Tectoniques and beliv’, its international development partner, are honoured to be guest architects.

Tectoniques / Architectures, staged at Aalto University’s architecture department, will provide an opportunity for exchanges between French and Finnish architects on the theme of «Open Helsinki». Tectoniques has long been interested in «dry» construction techniques and wood-frame structures, with a strong pro-environmental bias; and to illustrate its approach, the agency will be exhibiting 8 of its recent projects in the areas of habitat, health, leisure and education. The exhibition will take the form of a long screen made up of spruce panels displaying images and texts.
