Design: macmon architects
macmon chartered architects have been appointed, in collaboration with Atkins and as part of Taycare, to design a new build Secure Care Clinic and SCC Day Hospital in Perth which will serve the North of Scotland.
The scheme is part of NHS Tayside and the North of Scotland Planning Group’s £100m mental health developments project at the Murray Royal Hospital in Perth and Stracathro Hospital in Brechin.
The Secure Care Clinic will provide low and medium secure facilities encompassing admission, rehabilitation and long stay wards, all wrapped around internal courtyards. Shared services will include therapy accommodation as well as five aside football pitch.
The design’s emphasis is on a therapeutic environment conducive to patient recovery and addresses the needs of patients and their families whilst providing a pleasant and practical working environment for staff.
Work will start on site in 2010 and facilities will open in 2012.
Taycare is a healthcare joint venture led by Robertson Capital Projects working with partner Morgan Sindall Investments.
