Finalists Announced for SBID International Design Awards 2018
The finalists of the SBID International Design Awards 2018 have now been revealed. Amongst the impressive number of contenders this year, finalists include world renowned practices such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Dexter Moren Associates, NBBJ and Ron Arad Architects.
Notable projects include Claridge’s Suite at Claridge’s Hotel, Walmart HQ in Mexico, The Room of the Emirates at the United Nations in Switzerland and Nobu Downtown in New York.
Entries were received from over 42 countries including Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Ukraine, Dubai, China, Russia, Egypt and more.
Finalists were selected by a Technical Panel of judges in the first stage of the process. The public are now invited to vote for their favourite projects at www.sbidawards.com which will account for 30% of the final results.
Last year the awards received over 100,000 unique voters during the voting period. SBID Award categories cover all aspects of interior design including Retail, Public Space, Healthcare Design, Residential, Visualisation, Clubs & Bars and Restaurants, Office Spaces and Hotel Design.
Public voting will close on Friday 24 August at 5.00pm GMT

SBID International Design Awards 2018 Finalists
The SBID Awards is regarded as one of the most prestigious accolades in the interior design industry, representing talent and design excellence across all corners of the industry. Each entry undergoes an exclusive two-tier judging process by panels of leading industry experts for both technical content and aesthetic creativity as well as evaluating brief compliance, budget, health & safety, and fit-for-purpose design.
Judges this year include Directors and CEO’s from global design corporations such as Christian Louboutin Beauté, BBC, National History Museum, Belmond, Walpole, Bentley, Google, AECOM and more.
Founder and CEO of SBID, Dr Vanessa Brady OBE says: “We have had an overwhelming number of entries this year from more countries than in previous, the calibre of finalists across all 14 categories, is a true reflection of the creative scope of the global design industry, depicting an international portfolio of projects from over 42 countries worldwide.”
The Awards will celebrate its eight edition at The Dorchester hotel in London on Friday 26 October. The winners will be announced and awarded with a bespoke crystal trophy designed by Sans Souchi Glass Deco.
An Overall Winner will also be awarded for the project that gains the most votes overall from the judge’s choices and the public votes combined.
All winners and finalists will be featured in the Global Interior Design 2018 book which is distributed to over 1000 professionals across the globe.

CALL FOR ENTRIES:
The 2018 edition of the SBID International Design Awards is now open. As ever, this year’s edition promises to bring together the world’s finest interior design schemes, from the ostentatious to the minimal, the innovative and the functional. Consistent in its quest to recognise, reward and celebrate global interior design excellence from all over the world, the Awards will culminate with another glittering ceremony at its permanent residence; The Dorchester hotel, London.

Considered as one of the most prestigious accolades in interior design by the very best in the industry, the Awards represents over 43 countries worldwide. Last year saw a 40% increase of entries and over 100,000 public votes.
This year brings brand new additions to the revered panel of judges including Carlo Chiulli, Design Director at Christian Louboutin Beaute, Stefan Sielaff, Design Director at Bentley and Helen Brocklebank, CEO of Walpole, to mention a few.
Each entry undergoes an exclusive two-tier judging process by panels of leading industry experts for both technical content and aesthetic creativity and evaluates essential elements such as brief compliance, budget, health & safety, and fit-for-purpose design.

Architects and interior designers are invited to submit their projects by Friday 15 June 2018. The finalists will be announced in July 2018, and once announced, the public will be invited to cast their vote for their favourite projects online, which will contribute to the overall scores.
Entry is free of charge for SBID members and a fee applies for non-members. Previous editions’ finalists and winners are available to view here.

The past Awards received entries from over 43 countries, across 5 continents around the world. The winners will benefit from extensive media and social media exposure throughout the year as well as the right to use the ‘SBID Winner 2018′ logo on their website. They will also have the opportunity to network with top design professionals and potential clients and will receive the crystal trophy at the ceremony. Shortlisted entrants will also receive media and social media exposure and the right to use the ‘SBID Shortlisted 2018′ logo.
