There is no joy like gathering around a room with your family and friends to enjoy a fun game night. With the increasing popularity of online games, people are having game rooms that are dedicated to their gaming time.
The best ways to decorate a games room in your home
For many, this is a very special place where they build memories and relax while enjoying their favourite game. Gaming is no longer just for children now, it has become a big part of our daily lives.
The gaming room is a space that offers a safe environment to race cars or kill Zombies, and for many, it works like therapy. If you do not have extra space in the house, you can also have a special corner that is set aside as a games room.
It could be board games, video games or anything you enjoy playing. In this article, we discuss the different ways you can decorate the games room within a budget.
Look at the complete space
A lot of us do not have the space or resources to build a game room but this doesn’t mean you cannot have one. Even if you have a small room, you can convert it into a games room easily. Firstly, consider the available space in terms of the square footage.
Now consider the furniture, gaming setup and entertainment system you own. Spend time pondering over the layout available in the room so that you can set the system accordingly. If you do not have the space to fit a large entertainment centre, you might want to consider a minimalist plan.
Just place a few bean bags, LED lights, and a desk with a gaming chair. You might also want to consider a few closed cabinets or shelves to keep your favourite games.
Invest in the right setup
The gaming room should be a reflection of your preferences and personal style. This is why you need to have a unique theme and setup. You can opt for a club-like effect with the activities like Virtual Bowling, or Darts. With the right lights, this can become a party zone in no time.
If you enjoy a geek-like retro feel, you could be playing Zork, Pac-Man machine or Super Mario and have the setup which creates an arcade-like feel. It will take you back to your childhood days in no time.
That said, you can also build a futuristic theme and have your Nintendo, PlayStation, Slingo slots, or other Virtual Reality games. You will need the right accessories to play these games. With any of these themes, you can still have a minimalist room and set the right mood for the game.
Add the right lighting
The lighting can make or break the look of your room, and ambient lighting can make a lot of difference to the gaming room. Irrespective of the size of the room, you need to consider the lighting options to enjoy the best gaming experience. Natural light will not give the right experience when you are playing.
You need to look for lighting that will complement the type of games you play which means you can have overhead lighting, LED stripes or disco lights.
You need to ensure that the lighting does not ruin the experience but it should not strain your eyes either. It should be bright enough for the interior of the room and should prevent any optical damage. This is why targeted ambient lighting is the way to go.
Soundproof the space
Gaming can be a noisy experience, and the space can become a noisy zone with the gunfires, rolling balls, slots or the running of car wheels. There is no fun in playing with the volume down and this is why you need to soundproof the area. You do not need to spend a lot of money on the same.
You can consider rubber lining on the windows and doors or opt for simple panelling that will keep the sound confined to the room. Alternatively, you can have sliding windows and doors for the gaming room, and they can soundproof the space.
It will not only give relief to the other members in your home but will also create a unique gaming experience. You will not be disturbing anyone, and nobody will interrupt you while you spend hours in the room.
It is possible to create a unique space where you can enjoy your favourite games with your friends. Pick any space in your room and work around it to turn it into a gaming room, and you will not have to spend a lot of money for the same. Set a theme, soundproof the room and invest in the right lighting. Then you only need to get the furniture, systems and gaming console to get started on your favourite game with your favourite people.
