The Incredible Luxury Hotel that Staged the Appropriately-Named ‘The Fortune Hotel’

British television has begun to amp up the stakes in its game shows in recent years, from the amount of cash on offer to testing the ability of contestants to find bad actors. Bringing both of these elements together was The Fortune Hotel. What set this show apart, besides the high-stakes prizes, was the setting.
While The Traitors show got to dwell in Scottish castles, The Fortune Hotel took place in one of the world’s most beautiful and luxurious hotels that was built not that long ago. Opening with a minimum cost of £720 per night, it set the perfect backdrop to the show and demonstrates some truly inspired architecture choices for visitors.
A Fitting Landscape for the Show

In The Fortune Hotel, Stephen Mangan would host ten duos of Brits in an absurdly luxurious hotel. Through a series of challenges, they had to find a suitcase containing £250,000. The premise and the backdrop combined for quite the viewing and have proved captivating enough to live on in online slots at Sky Vegas.
The show may not have been long-lived, quite possibly because of the immense costs involved, but it’s since been transformed into a slot game that captures the setting and stakes. It utilises the luxurious backdrop as well as the show’s discovery element. In the game, the aim is to find the Hold and Win rounds to find the top prizes on offer.
So, The Fortune Hotel picked a setting that not only made for a great place to film a show, but was luxurious enough to be the ideal backdrop to a themed slot game. The theme is, of course, a luxury resort, only further spreading the appeal of this idyllic location to the British public. Luckily, if you have the cash, you can visit.
British Tourists Will Love the Minimalist Design

In 2018, Silversands in Grenada, an island just off of the Venezuelan coast, opened as an exclusively luxury hotel retreat. Rooms cost £720 per night as a minimum on opening, nestling visitors on the pink-ish sands of Grand Anse Beach. If the turquoise waters of the beach aren’t for you, then there’s a 100m infinity pool on site, too.
The 43 rooms of the hotel give you either a view of the garden or the ocean and host your stay in a very contemporary, minimalist design philosophy. White and natural and neutral colours, uncluttered rooms, clean-cut lines, light wood, pale marble, and dots of the Grenadian natural landscape punctuate the aesthetic.
Originally, the build was designed by Paris, Geneva, and Montpellier-based architecture and interior design specialists AW2. They worked on the hotel’s build from 2014 to 2018, creating a welcoming stay specifically for visitors with an eye for design. So, they opted for a slick and understated approach with linear architecture.
However, there was also a need to blend in the authenticity of the hotel being distinctly Grenadian. So, they drew the focus to the landscape, pointing open and communal spaces towards the endless horizon or the greenery that surrounds the hotel. Since then, a boutique sister hotel has been added.
For the Silversands Beach House, architect Khaled Morgan positioned panoramic suites and guest rooms on a cliff, as Time describes, to overlook Portici Beach. These rooms cascade down the slope towards beachfront suites that are closer to yet another infinity pool. Again, the approach is focused on the environment by using a sleek, minimalist design approach.
In more recent years, Silversands has been turning to local architects to bolster its offering. They recently called in Ike Architecture and local architect Irina Kostka to build a new club as part of the hotel’s luxurious offering. Having spent her days on Grand Anse Beach, Kostka was seen as the ideal pick to build out Silversands further.
Now, Brits captivated by the show’s depiction of the hotel can fly out and enjoy it in person. It’ll cost a pretty penny or two, but if you’re a design enthusiast, it simply must be on your bucket list.
