Home Cleaning Tips and Shortcuts
6 April 2024
For many individuals, cleaning isn’t an activity they love doing. To help you ensure you get your home cleaned and chores done quickly, we have some cleaning shortcuts that you can practice. The following tips will help save hours that would otherwise have been spent on heavy cleaning when you decide it should be done.
Divide Household Tasks
Many individuals spend a whole day or weekend cleaning the house. Instead of spending an entire weekend cleaning your home, it’s best to focus on specific rooms such as the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom. You can reserve another day for cleaning another part of the house. Put aside time for cleaning the garage, basement, or attic as well. For efficient organization and task management, ensure to use dumpster rental services. With their help, you can easily get rid of your trash.
Arrange Cleaning Products
When selecting cleaning products, be strategic about buying and placing them in your home. A good suggestion is to buy multipurpose cleaning products. They make cleaning different surfaces easier. For organization, it is best your cleaning items are labeled, grouped, and easily accessible. It would be best to keep all cleaning items in a handy bin or basket. This way, you can easily move it around the house with you.
Use Bicarbonate Soda for Cleaning
Bicarbonate of soda is known to be very helpful in cleaning due to its gentle abrasive nature and that it’s also a natural deodorizer. It can be used for getting stains on the inside of cups or teaspoons by rubbing it with a paste of water and bicarb and then rinsing thoroughly. Other uses include:
- Deodorizing carpets, pet beds, and upholstered furniture. Sprinkle and leave it for 15 minutes, after which you vacuum thoroughly.
- Clean microwaves, cooking utensils, stainless steel, and countertops. You just need to mix with a little water and then scrub.
- It can also be used to absorb food odors when you keep a ramekin with powdered bicarb in the drawer to keep your fridge fresh.
- Additionally, bring back your silver shine with a paste (one part water to three parts bicarb), then apply it with a lint-free cloth then rinse. Ensure you don’t use a paper towel, it could scratch.
- If your gym clothes stink after several tries, then soak it for about 30 minutes in cool water and a mix of bicarbonate of soda.
Declutter All Rooms
Regularly schedule some time every week to declutter your room and remove any items you no longer require. If you hold some things very dear, then box them up and move them out of your living space.
Enlist Professional Services
It would be best to hire professional window cleaners once a year if you storm windows or a two-story house. During late fall, a roof-cleaning service would be a wise decision. Ensure these hired services are insured and bonded and get references.
Depending on your house size and time, you can hire a service or rent carpet-cleaning equipment. If you intend to rent equipment, then steam-clean every carpet. It helps save money. When you decide to hire a service, watch out for discounts some companies offer.
