Dream Home Desires

Ocean Finance poll reveals dream home desires

What would be the most important thing to you if you were choosing your dream home? A recent survey has shown that when asked what feature we would most like, 36% of Brits would choose an indoor swimming pool.

More modest upgrades

At Ocean Finance, we asked a representative sample of 3,425 British adults what they aspired to in their dream home. Whilst a large proportion would like a pool in their house, there are also a significant number of us who would like more modest features.

For example, 33% of people would like an en-suite bathroom. Interestingly, notably more women than men picked this option, with 39% of women compared with just 25% of men saying that they wanted one. It was a similar story with a walk-in wardrobe, with 37% of women compared with just 12% of men dreaming of this feature.

A conservatory was also a popular choice, along with a larger garden and a hot tub. Whilst the indoor swimming pool is rather extravagant (as are with the tennis courts and football pitch that some of us aspire to) many other features may well be more achievable:

Whilst those of us on a modest income needn’t get too excited about having a cinema room, wine cellar or paddock, perhaps more conservatories and en-suite bathrooms will be coming to a street near you soon.
