Marischal College
Marischal College in Aberdeen is one of the largest, and finest, granite buildings in the world. It has been restored to the ‘Silver City’s’ skyline once again, after a major £40m redevelopment by Holmes Architects.
Following the successful completion of a two-year long restoration and upgrade, the soaring silver-white granite landmark has re-emerged as the new HQ for Aberdeen City Council. 1400 staff in total, from various council premises around the city, are due to move into the building over the coming months.

The Aberdeen Royal Infirmary hospital has it origins in a facility established at Woolmanhill in 1739. The granite buildings on the site were designed by James Brown Nicol.

Archibald Simpson Practice Information
Former architecture office based in Aberdeen, northeast Scotland, UK
Simpson first established his architecture practice in 1813 at his old childhood home at 15 Guestrow. He later moved to premises at 130 Union Street, where in 1826 he lost his entire archive of drawings in a fire.
This fire destroyed the building, forcing him to move his office to 8 Belmont Street and later to 22 Crown Street – where the former Post Office building now stands. Later he relocated to live at 15 Bon Accord Street and practicing from his office at 1 Bon Accord Street.
