AS+GG: Architecture announce that it has completed a master plan for Chengdu Tianfu District Great City, a self-sustaining, environmentally sensitive 1.3-square-kilometer satellite city scheduled to begin construction this fall on an approximately 3-square-kilometer site outside Chengdu, China. Great City is envisioned as a prototype or model city to be replicated in other locations throughout the country.

AS+GG is pleased to announce that it has won an international competition to design Qintai Center, a 248-meter (814-feet) tall, high-performance corporate headquarters tower and related podium structure in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. AS+GG’s winning entry was selected over competing schemes from firms based in the Netherlands, Japan and Hong Kong.

The bold design for Dancing Dragons by AS+GG Architecture includes residential, office and retail elements. The pair of supertall tower buildings is for the new Yongsan International Business District.

Height: over 1,000 m / 3,280 ft high
Total area: 530,000 sqm / 5.7 million sqft
The tower’s will be at least 173 m (568 ft) taller than the Burj Khalifa – the world’s current tallest building at 828 m high.

This architecture firm is pleased to announce that it has won an international competition to design Wuhan Greenland Center, which at 606 meters (1,988 feet) will likely be China’s third-tallest building, and the fourth tallest in the world, when completed in about five years. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer in Wuhan near the meeting of the Yangtze and Han rivers.

The tower’s elegantly twisting, faceted form signifies the rising importance of Tianjin, while the undulating pattern of the cladding of the north and south facades evokes both the rippling surface of the Haihe River, two blocks to the east, and the region’s tradition of bamboo weaving.

Chicago DeCarbonization Plan
The Chicago Central Area DeCarbonization Plan articulates a total of eight key strategies to meet the city’s carbon reduction goals. The first one investigates how existing structures can be upgraded to improve energy efficiency, increase the value of aging building stock and tap into the potential to transfer excess energy loads back to the grid.
Head Office Building for Federation of Korean Industries, Seoul, Korea

The building skin is designed to help reduce the internal heating and cooling loads of the tower and collect energy by integrating photovoltaic panels into the spandrel areas of the southwest and northwest facades, which receive a significant amount of direct sunlight per day.
