Following on the success of its flagship space on Keong Saik Road, The Working Capitol’s new site at 140 Robinson Road takes the company’s focus on wellbeing, social connections and the free flow of ideas between industries and pushes it a step further.
The aim has been to turn the cubicle inside out with an array of inspiring spaces for every type of working style or activity, complemented by hospitality, lifestyle and wellbeing offerings.
The range of choices means there is an optimal working environment – and space for breaks – to suit every type of business and worker. The circulation routes between the working spaces also become hubs for activity, conversation and chance encounters.
HASSELL Principal Paul Semple says the design for Robinson Road “responds to the original Working Capitol and speaks to all the things that people love about the brand and what it stands for”.
“This has helped to shape the design concept – we’ve given a tailored edge to the raw,” he said.
“Playful graphic forms and colours are fundamental to the design, creating a polished and urban experience that will set The Working Capitol apart from the crowd.”
The new co-working space sits lightly within the concrete shell of the building, covering – but not concealing – the existing structure like a second skin. Features include exposed walls, employing plywood features and installing rubber floors across the building.
About The Working Capitol
The Working Capitol was created in Singapore in 2014 as a co-working space, lifestyle provider and food and beverage destination. It aims to ‘break out of the cubicle’ to unlock innovation and collaboration with a range of workspace solutions, community programs and professional and lifestyle events designed to inspire growth and wellbeing.
“The best ideas can live and grow if the immediate surroundings put people first…It’s what all our spaces have in common,” says Saranta Gattie, The Working Capitol CoFounder and Chief Culture Officer.
Its flagship site at Keong Saik Road in Chinatown is home to more than 70 companies, from start ups to SMEs and multinationals, who strive to grow their operations and attract and retain top talent and build sustainable long-term corporate cultures.
