Antony Gormley Exposure
This will be the first opportunity to view the recently completed trial assembly of a project created by Antony Gormley and manufactured at Had Fab Ltd, East Lothian. Standing 25.5m high and weighing 60 tonnes, it is one of the larger, more adventurous works by Antony Gormley.
The Antony Gormley Exposure is made of more than 5000 randomly orientated elements in a variety of angle-sections that connect in 547 nodes with the use of 14000 bolts. The work is a complex and unique combination of art and engineering.
The structure will stand in place in the steel fabricators yard for approx 2 weeks before the scuplture will be dismantled piece by piece and transported to its final destination in Lelystad in Holland where it will be re-assembled by Had Fab.
Antony Gormley commented:
Exposure is a 25m high space frame that uses parametric non-orthogonal geometry to describe the human body as an open space porous to light and the elements. It is destined for Lelystad on the Zuiderzee coast east of Amsterdam.
This impressive piece of engineering has been entirely made and constructed in Scotland by the pylon manufacturers Had Fab. It has been temporarily erected in their yard in Tranent and for a few brief days will stare out north east across the mouth of the Firth of Forth.
