The council used its compulsory purchase powers to buy the castle from its absentee Far Eastern owners. Ownership has been transferred to a buyer, who intends to live there and assist restoration.
This Victorian building was commissioned by David Lyon. It has deteriorated rapidly in recent years.
This historic structure has appeared on the Scottish Civic Trust Buildings at Risk Register since it started in 1990.
