Punibach Hydroelectric Power Station in Tyrol
The Punibach hydroelectric power station is conceived as a ‘fracture in the landscape’. The concrete slab is rammed into the ground, separating the smooth hilly landscape and the raw building structure. By night the building appearance changes dramaticlaly, glowing through the lamellar façade.

Hydroelectric Power Station
The hydroelectric power station is located near Winnebach brook in Dörfl (municipal territory of Vintl), at 800 m. above sea level. It’s partly built into the slope, since the building area was extremely reduced. The project consists in a simple but polygonal volume, which is formally adapted to the landscape and the local conditions. The power station is conceived as an artificial rock quarried out of the slope.

In 2013 the UK’s National Grid started to dismantle the disused gasholders next to the building to make way for new homes, shops and businesses. The site was decommissioned in 2012 and the demolition is expected to last until December 2014.

The Electrical Substation is located in Kings Yard in the west of the Olympic Park and will distribute electricity across the Olympic Park and Stratford City site through new electrical networks consisting of more than 100km of electrical cabling.

Longannet Biomass Power Station
In 2011 the BBC report concern is growing that plans to develop carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology at Longannet in Fife could be close to collapse. ScottishPower is bidding for £1bn in funding from the UK government to help pay for the project. Both ScottishPower and the Department of Energy and Climate Change insist negotiations are continuing.

Skive Power Station Building
This new Danish building is located on a ridge along the main road to the town of Skive. The building’s simple shapes and distinctive details signal ’power station’ – shorn of all such familiar building features as doors, windows or storey divisions.

Rising from the flat industrial landscape of Clarence Works, at first sight it looks more akin to an art gallery than a power station. Iconic in stature, this building is sure to become an exemplar of modern power station design; a local landmark, and also a national symbol of Britain’s strategy for Renewable Energy.
