The World Trade Center was designed by Minoru Yamasaki in the mid-1960s and the North Tower, or WTC 1, was the first of the project’s buildings to be completed. These high quality Mylar prints, created from the original drawings at the time of the buildings construction, document the buildings development from the ground to the 110th floor; each sheet contains a full signature block with project and drawing title.

This collection of working prints serves as a historical record for the creation of the North Tower, a structure that has become one the world’s most famous buildings. As Richard Wright states, “These works have moved from architecture to history. They deserve to be preserved and protected”.

Wright is the premier auction house specializing in modern and contemporary design. Dedicated to design and historically important artifacts, Wright is the market leader for 20th century objects.

The World Trade Center in New York by Minoru Yamasaki was an architectural marvel at the time of its construction and has become a powerful symbol of the American spirit. The complex was designed in the early 1960s and located in lower Manhattan’s financial district on roughly seventeen acres of land.

Comprised of seven buildings and with more than 10,000,000 square feet, the development was devised to promote world commerce by providing a central location for private and public business engaged in world trade.

From the advancements in elevator technologies of the twin towers and a natural cooling system fueled by the Hudson River to new methods of building structure and grounds capable of accommodating 50,000 plus people daily, the World Trade Center was an innovative and accomplished construction.

The twin towers of the World Trade Center stood as prominent fixtures of the New York City skyline for nearly forty years. The sale of the following collection of Mylar prints documenting the production phase of the North Tower and Building 7 of the World Trade Center serve as a historical record for one of the world’s most famous architectural achievements.
